Tailoring in fungi for next generation cellulase production with special reference to CRISPR/CAS system

Cellulose is the utmost plenteous source of biopolymer in our earth, and fungi are most efficient ubiquitous organism degrading cellulosic biomass by synthesizing cellulases. Tailoring through genetic manipulation has played a substantial role constructing novel fungal strains towards improved cellulase production desired traits. However, traditional methods time-consuming tedious. With availability full-genome sequences several industrially relevant filamentous fungi, CRISPR-CAS (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated protein) technology come into focus for proficient development manipulated fungi. This review summarizes mode action cellulases, transcription level regulation expression, various strategies with to develop modified preferred production, futuristic trend this arena research.
